Or you have somehow managed to get in and cannot find a way to break out.....
Wow, man that was pretty funny!! I got a really good laugh out of that one. Thanks, I needed the cheer up, it's beena pretty bad weekend for me.

Hey can you send me pics of your CD to my email? I'd love to have a look at it. I just like seeing the variations in other peoples, and mine, etc.

Truckinik- My 79 240D has a similar lock issue. I cannot lock the driver's door when it is open, only when it is closed. Then, if I am in the car I can lock it by pushing down, or if outside, by turning the key. I thought that was strange.

Unfortunately, my other locks do not work by vaccuum. I suppose there is a leak somewhere, as the car is reluctant to shut off also. It will only shut off if the drivers door is locked.

.
Not strange at all. It is working as designed. It's intended to stop you from locking yourself out of the car without the key.

LOL, I once managed to lock myself out of my 300D anyway. I got in the passenger's side and reached across to start the car, then I got out and closed the passenger's door which automatically locked because the drivers door was locked. I had my spare key, fortunately.

Yes, I don't think the refusal to lock when the door is open is a problem though. I think that is by design, to prevent people from locking themselves out. Every vehicle should be set up that way. There would be no such thing as locking yourself out if that was the case. If it is by default, I'll take it. Everything works fine on my car though.

lol, the inside door handles are set up to open the doors, whether they're locked or not. So when you pull the handle from inside the car, it unlocks and opens the door, in one fell swoop. This is like a Ford. Blond friendly I guess. Maybe because coupes are often associated w/single people, and they have a lot more sex than married people.....atleast we're supposed to. I'm extremely single. My fiance' died almost a year ago, and I haven't even had a meaningful one night stand in the past year. Time to take out the coupe ?

Hmmm, I guess it is something in the latch mechanism itself. Not sure how you will access that.
Aren't you glad you don't have to worry about the 2 front doors and trunk of your newest parts car being locked.....

Maybe the rod that runs along the door panel?

That would do it, but it would take some serious doing to have that rod fall off, maybe the pot metal where it attaches to the inside door handle failed.

How would that rod affect the outer door handle?
