W210 - 606.x - Stuck GP - Analyis/Review

First off, mine are not stuck, as far as I know.

I know there has been a fair amount of discussion as to the causes, but I was wondering what the real world discoveries are. Hopefully others could make more informed decisions about wether to leave them in until they are bad or to periodically take them out, and if so when.

So, of those that have had problems here are some questions..

1. Were the GP's original?
2. Were they ever changed before?
3. How many miles on them?
4. How many years on them?
5. Which one/one's became stuck?
6. Was the removal attempted with the engine hot?
7. Model year of vehicle.
8. Other variables that you deem appropriate...

I am hoping that this line of discussion may show a particular trend if there are in fact enough responses.

I had an indy service tech replace my glow plugs this year....

There were not stuck. I was charged an arm and a leg. ($600+)

My local MB dealership charges ABOVE MSRP for parts (AFAIK).

70K miles

Piece of mind, that I didn't break one off myself.... pricesless.....

If you leave it in, by the time it needs to be removed, it might then be stuck. So, I'd try to remove it just to be sure. Prechambers were clean and no carbon stuck there first time I had to take the head off and the 2nd time just to check it out.

1. Yes
2. No
3. 55K the first time and 120K the 2nd time
4. 6 yrs
5. 1, 3, 6. 1 and 6 came out after a long while 3 broke in the head.
6. Hot and cold. No luck either way
7. 99 E300
8. I'd do it every 2 years as a PM issue. Take it out and anti-seize the threads.
