The old type ACC with the evil servo existed up until 80 or 81. The later 300D\s have a less evil type of ACC without a servo.

US-market 300D through 1980 had automatic climate control, using a Chrysler-designed electro-mechanical coolant valve and mode-control servo mounted underhood, ahead of the right wheel housing. I believe '81 and later 300D used an all-electronic automatic climate control that's supposed to be more reliable.
Personally, I prefer the manual heat/AC setup used in Euro models, and my 240Ds. Happy Motoring, Mark

Both your's do. Transition year on W123 300D and 300TD was 1980. My 1980 wagon had ACC [horizontal buttons]. Most '80 and prior 300D sedans have the evil servo [vertical buttons].
