Harbor Freight Vaccum tester

Does anyone here use one of these. They are on sale right now for 20 bucks. If you have used one did you have good results? Thanks for any feed back.
Oh yea, I know I get what I pay for but cash is tight right now and I need to check my vac lines. Thanks.

I got the vac tester gauge and their "mity vac" . The gauge is still working well. Always has. I wish I could say the same about the "mity vac". It stopped working after 2 uses.

I have this Mity-Vac from Harbor Freight. It has worked great for two years, one of my most valued tools for my MB.

Stay away from HF. They are EVIL, I went last week and this week they sent me 3 more coupons, including a 10% off that has no expiration. Evil I tell you. I was sucked back into the vortex today and HAD to spend another $120.

AFAIK there are several other people who use that gauge. I suggest spending the 60 and getting the metal mighty vac. You cant draw a vac to test components with just the gauge. The plastic one (which I bought even though I was told to get the metal one), is ok but is already showing signs of a short life span.

Thanks for the replies. Dmorrison I'm glad that has lasted, I need to find out what is going on with the vaccum system in my car (see my other post) and need some thing that will "get the job done".

That's the same one I have. I put that one and my more expensive Craftsman one side by side, and they appear identical. Mine's been working fine for a couple of years as well.

I believe they are all made by mightyvac. I've had the so-called cheap, plastic one for 20 years now and it still works fine. All I've ever done to it is spray the internal rubber parts with silicone about once a year.

I've had a HF vacuum tester for about 6 months now. Seems to work just fine.

Anyone want to trade an old Volvo for an '87 300sdl?

I have had this inexpensive model for some time now. There have been complaints on harbour freight compression testers on site but never on the cheaper vac tester to my knowledge. So they must be fine in my opinion. It may only be cheaper in price as it's all metal. My favorite formula perhaps. More for less but time will tell.

Mine (the cheaper metal HF one) did not last very long.

It can apply vacuum fine, but it cant hold it very long at all. Less than a minute.

And the handle is loose, with no easy way of tightening.

I am going to spring for a new all metal mityvac the next time I have the spare change.

Let the fun begin...

Thanks for all the posts, I went out and bought this one today. It was actually cheaper at their store (17.99) if it works as well as all of these I'll be happy!! Thanks again.
