well if we want to get really technical on the mpg, then i would look at some of the Canadian drivers that have driven smarts already.

this is from the guy at http://100mpg.ca/ and he has some really good numbers

now his numbers are imperical, but he was consistently getting 7xmpg. i am hoping, now that the smart will be in the US that it would be easier to import them from canada. it has been impossible so far, but does anyone think this would be easier?

Hoorah for rear-engined automobiles with quirky looks and spunky personalities!!! It's something Mercedes as a company just can't pull off. Their marketing department can't allow that-- it'd damage the stuffy, serious persona they've worked so hard to establish.

I like a car that makes me smile-- these li'l guys do just that!

I'll say it again...

SO cute
Actually, some how I never have. I'm not sure how!

If'n I want small, I'll take a REAL Mini. Not one of those rebadged Bimmers.

The MiniCooper's engine is a miniaturized neon engine.

Smarts are cheap junk. I've driven one. You could not pay me to drive another.

for that price I'll wait for the Loremo. http://www.loremo.com/. Same price, waaaay better mileage and it even looks like a real car... performs kinda like a 240D too

Odd vehicle, that Loremo is; they thought outside of the box a bit.

I duno about outside the box... They just took the ideals of efficiency and driveability to the extreme... I think that is ultimately very much inside the box... Seems to me that making a road-legal golf cart is more outside the box than making a super-efficient automobile.

looks cool, but i bet it wont come to the US easily. at least the smart has DaimlerChrysler behind it, which was the problem initially because of all the expensive hoops it had to jump through for EPA conformance. this is really expensive, and is one of the main reasons the US has not been able to get any Diesel Smarts or smarts of any kind from canada.
