Go for the turbo. You'll kick yourself if you get the N/A and later find out how much of a difference the boost makes.
That aside, glowplugs will be an issue on any model year, fuel leaks are common (but not too bad)...I've heard of the spring perch issue but I've checked out my car and it doesn't have it....it's originally from Texas too...Houston to be specific (whatdya know! )

I appreciate everyones opinion and think i'm going to wait for my friends dad to trade the car in sometime during the end of Feb. or the begining of March. That gives me time to research what an 84 300 D turbo is going for and put it up for sale. Thanks again.
