Greasecar

Hey,

Sorry to repeat but Greasecar has worked very well for me. Not a single problem that wasn't my fault. Using it without problems or a Veggietherm this winter. I'm in the Mid Atlantic so it doesn't get below 10 much. I think DIY is great but its a lot of work.. You can spend a lot of time to get your filtration system running so if you can aford a kit focus on making a really nice filtration system yourself. The greasecar kit was a good balance of price vs my car. Frybrid is very nice but I haven't used one. I was going to go with an Elsbett for my next conversion. Anyone out there other than Mario have a single tank Elsbett in use?

Thanks,
Jay

Grease Car for the $

I'm happy with my Grease Car WVO system on my 1985 300SD.
I went with grease car because of the cost of their kit and the low value of my car. A frybrid system would have been great but I couldn't justify the cost of that system on my cheap car.

Look at it this way, Grease Car is made for shade-tree mechanics who like to tinker with their cars. Frybrid is made for people who have no interest in what goes on underneath the hood of the car; all they want is to turn the ignition key and go. (If I were to buy a new VW diesel for my wife, I would go for the Frybrid system because she doesn't want to think about looking at gauges and flipping switches.)

I've had my GC system since Nov. 2006 and I've had no problems with it.

You may also want to check out www.GoldenFuelSystems.com. I'm going to use them on my next diesel truck because they make a 140 gallon tank and they've been doing it for a few years with good recommendations.
Also they've got a really good DVD that teaches you what to look for when it comes to collecting WVO.

Hope this helps.

Im glad to hear so many satisfied with grease car. I will check them out for my next conversion.

Anyway, I went frybrid, and am pleased. I like the way they heat the fuel in tank - its in an enclosed container so it only heats a small portion of fuel, not whole tank. I also like the HIH, which transfers heat very efficiently. I like the sturdy hydroforce valves they use, bulletproof. And I never thought Id say...Im a HUGE fan of the computer controller. I cant tell you how many times Id completely forget to switch over. This thing always knows. Not needed, but nice (esp when wife drives it, she only needs to press 1 button for purge, and theres an alarm if its forgotten). I also really like their forum. They seem to be on the front edge of that industry (esp regarding polymerization issues, materials selection, water in fuel, all those things you need to worry about on wvo). So I like supporting them.

All that said, the kit is expensive and you have to wait 2-3 months.

But I'll look into the GC kit next go round. I didnt know it was on same level as frybrid but Im pretty new to wvo world. Go check out my site and look in the whats in development sectino. You can read my blog all about my frybrid kit.
