Got tired of my muffler pipe hanging down where it goes under the differential and of the constant worry that the rusty thing was going to fall off one of these days...... So I got a 3 foot section of 2.5 exhaust pipe for $10 off of an antique exhaust shop that's a client of mine (I've worked on their pc's several times.)

It's aluminized steel. I cut off the pipe going into my old stock muffler and welded it straight to this new piece, then fashioned a hanger for it.

All around, doesn't sound much louder since my resonators are long gone anyhow....... Also, for those worried about restriction in the stock exhaust system, I doubt that will be a problem as the muffler I had (Stock replacement as far as I can tell from the sticker still holding on to it......) is a single in-dual out, free flow muffler. I.e. If you cut of the inlet pipe and take off the outlet pipes, you can look straight through the muffler like a telescope...... Therefore, if you get rid of your resonators and run large ID pipe back to the stock muffler, you probably won't have any restriction problems to speak of there.......

Anyway, back to sound; overall it has a louder "raspy" sound to it. Don't know what turbo sounds like as I haven't had my dad drive it so I can listen from outside..... My mom mentions that she's noticed a change in deep rumble. With the muffler intact, she said she could always hear me come in the drive because it would create VERY deep almost able to be felt tone. Now that is gone...........

All in all, without the resonators, I think the muffler just quites the rasp and creates a deep "rumble"........

Oh well, enough talk, here's the pics...........

Well, i got tired of the constant drone in-car and after my old exhaust pipe broke under the transmission and started dragging, I fixed my old muffler and had the muffler place bend up a piece of pipe for me......

here's the pics.

Definitely doubt there's gonna be any restriction issues with this either. :D

$15.00

Got tired of the drone myself at 75-80 constant. Picked up a new to me exhaust (from the turbo back:D) system for $15 bucks at the boneyard, I had to patch a hole in the top of the rear muffler but hey for now it works. I can hear the motor now at idle.;)

I pulled a exhaust from the junk yard, chopped off the resonators and the muffler, gonna go buy a few sections of pipe, clamp them on where the muffler/resonators used to be, and put it on.. I'll see if it sounds any different than letting it out under the car from the downpipe... Just have to get rid of that aweful metal rattling sound from the clamp thingy on the downpipe at idle...
