I think my injection pump timing might be off because I'm getting black smoke on accelerations. The car runs wide open on flat stretches of road but boggs down a hair on inclines/hills. I recently changed fuel filters after having a used injection pump installed. I've settled with letting well enough do since I can drive it on 140 mile trip twice a week at 28 MPG. Any other thoughts?

Have you checked your timing with the drip tube...?

How clean is the air filter...?...Diesels need lots of air....

I had a indy friend of mine do the drip method of timing but I wasn't there at the time he did it. He said once the car started it didn't seem to have any power so he advanced the timing (i assume by rotating the pump) to give it the power it is getting. I have changed the air filter as well. I think it needs a slight adjustment... I haven't completely grasped where the ADLA adjustments are on the 124 603 turbos.. I thinking the adjustment might be needed in that area.
