Value of A 300td Third-Row Seat?

Y'all,

What is the value of a 300td third-row seat (for both the increase in asking price for a car with one and as all the parts that comprise the setup)? For sake of argument, let's say the setup is palomino MB Tex and is an "8" in condition.

I've searched the archives here on various combinations of "300td seat" with "third" or "3rd" and "value" or "price" and haven't come up with anything directly related to my question -- where price is mentioned, it's in a discussion about a particular car for sale and doesn't get into how much the third-row seat option is worth.

Thanks in advance,
Shawn

I don't think the third row makes much difference in the price, but it can close the sale. it is desired, that is all. my guess would be something like 200.00 for ALL the parts. the seat, the covers, the seat belts, the headrests, and all the little carpet parts, and screws etc...

Sort of related:
I needed a 3rd seat for my volvo 850 wagon. The set-up is pretty identical to the TD 3rd seat. Junkyards wanted $300 -700. I kept searching and got one for $125 - nice leather one in great shape. I got the impression that not many people want to retrofit one, but that didn't make them any cheaper. I am guessing prices were based on the fact that a new kit is about $1200.

You did not say why you wanted this info....do you want one, are you selling one??

For what it's worth, I never use mine, it stays folded down all the time so I can use the cargo area. It seems that nobody really wants to ride around facing backwards resting their knees on their chin....and I don't blame them! If I were looking at a 300TD and it had no 3rd row, I would count that as a plus, but use it as minus to dicker the price down!!

Your milage may vary.

If you have kids the third row seat is worth it's weight in gold. If you dont then never mind. If you can find a third row seat in the color that you want for under $300 delivered to your doorstep you are lucky if you ask me. I wouldn't pull one, collect all the stuff needed to retrofit and ship it for that price- and I can get them as easily as anyone here. I'd say they add at least $500 to the value of the car. If you dont like it- guess what? fold it down- it's then invisible.

The only time I've used my third seat is to put groceries and things I didn't want rolling all around in the back. Just open up the seat and you've got a small storage container that will hold bags and such upright.

As for sitting with my knees on my chin, well either you're 7 feet tall or you've never tried sitting back there. It's actually not too bad, or at least much better than I thought it was going to be (I'm 5'11").

When I bought my 4matic wagon, I wouldn't have considered it if I couldn't have gotten it with the 3rd-row seat. My girls loved it and 15years later, the seat is what they remember about that car.

Yep, I purposefully didn't say. I'm not trying to be annoying about it, but wanted to get answers that weren't based on me having a desire to either buy or sell one (or a car with one).
