Funny Looking Thing in Wheel Bearing Kit

I just changed my rear wheel bearings on my 79 240D and was wondering if anyone knows what the flat bar/tool (see link) is for that comes with the kit? I hope I am not missing a piece on my car! Is it a tool to ease installation or set the end play or something? Just curious if anyone knows.

that is to keep the caliper bolts from coming loose, you install it and bend up the tab on the bolt hex head that attaches the caliper to the car. i circled the tabs you bend up in the picture i attached here

Mystery Piece

So it is used between the 2 mounting bolts and the brake caliper? Like a washer? How/where is it bent? One never came off of the car...I think I need to go and have a look asap. Are these always on brake calipers? I don't recall one on my front either.

it is like vstech says, normally there is blue locktite on them, this may be an older aftermarket kit or something, but you can use blue locktite instead

I would use both, just for the hey of it, since you've already got both. You'll still be able to get them apart later, and have the piece of mind that if the car was hit by a mortar shell, atleast these two components would still be together...
