W124 brake squeal, still

Just had my brakes redone after they FAILED about a month ago. Had a hard pedal, overshot a stop sign by 15 feet, could have killed someone.

Had my brakes fixed (new power booster, new hose, new pads, new rotors), but now the brake squeal is back when I come to a near stop. What causes it (I heard it's very tiny, very fast vibrations of the pads against the rotors), and how do I get rid of it.

Thanks,

Jeff 1991 300d, 101k

Is usually the piston against the back of the pad.

There are rubber paint on coatings available; some pads come coated.

squeaky brakes

I bought brembo pads to replace the textar that were wearing out. Brembo squeaked no matter how clean or how much anti squeak goop I used. I lightly chamfered the edges on the Brembos too. Bought a new set of textar and I'm golden - no more squeak. Lots more brake dust, but oh well.

I had the same problem, getting rid of the cheap pads they put on cured it

I use the CRC stuff. Not only have I never had brakes squeal after I changed them, but it also dyes your hands or cloaths a really cool shade of red... that takes weeks to come off without agressive hand cleaning (wire wheel anyone?)

Cheap pads get LOTS of stop squeek goop, I coat everything. The whole back of the pads gets a thick coat, including the back part of the wear indicator, and the hold down clips...

Besides that, I dunno...
Good luck
