My 300SDL has a shroud that covers most all of the underside of the car, looks like fiber glass of some sort. It has to be removed for oil changes or any other inspection or work. Is this for any other reason than to keep the cars underside clean, can it be left off?? If anyone knows I would sure appreciate hearing from you.

Ric

It is mainly for sound isolation on Benzes with a diesel engine and it is for keeping the engine and transmission box clean as well.
It can be left off without any problem.

1)Noise encapsulation panel
2)keep clean
3)protection from speed bumps

yes you can leave it off with no probs.

But a suggestion, use a topsider oil change and just leave the panel there, it does make a difference in noise and protection, clean, etc.
