I think my W 124 needs a water pump
It has started growling at idle, but no leaking. How bad is a pump to replace on the 124? I have a pump already. How many hours would an Indy charge to do the job?

They will charge about 3 hours give or take. If you decide to tackle this job yourself, plan on spending a lot more time than that.
Are you SURE that the grinding is the water pump? They usually fail by leaking. The only way to know for sure that the grinding is the water pump is to remove the belt and spin the pump by hand to feel if the grinding is coming from there. Any time you have the belt off for any reason, you should spin all pulleys by hand and check for smoothness. Good luck, |
