Oh good, a new problem. Blower fan squeal W124

I know how to replace a blower fan, but mine is working, just starting to squeal a bit. Probably just needs a drop of oil on it. Does anyone know of an easy way to access the fan area, rather than ripping 1/2 the car apart? I'm tempted to drill a hole in there, then patch it back up when done; it's just plastic.

Thanks,

Remove the rubber seal strips (pull up)
Remove center panel of forward firewall (four thumbscrews)
Remove the plastic screens (screws around wiper arm base)
Remove the wiper ass'y (4 bolts, easier with the blade removed and a rag on the end, official proceedure is to remove the arm first).
Un-clip the top of the blower box
Un-plug blower and un-clip the holding clip.

I did it Saturday, one of the easiest blower removal procedures I know, about 15minutes. W201 is about the same.

Mine has a minor squeal that's only audible with radio off and at low speeds. Sounds like once you've gone that far, you might as well put a new one in.
