Mobil 1 5w40 in 1 gal jugs @ Walmart!

While at Walmart today I found two one gallon jugs of Mobil 1 5w40 TD Truck. $22.23 a gallon ($5.56 qt). There where no price tag place holder so I hope I did not just get somebody's special order leftover. I assume if it is in the price look up system it is a stock item.

Thats only 40 cents less per quart than at autozone...and when I shop there I don't support walmart (I never shop there) and I get credits towards the $20 reward for every five purchases of $20 or more. In fact...my next 3 quarts of oil (mobil 1 5w40) and jug of washer fluid...will be free thanks to that deal.

Personally I prefer filling engines with the quart bottles, its more manageable....and easier to measure.

MOBIL 1 5w40 still available?

Maybe it's just a New England thing, but I haven't seen any Mobil 1 5w40 diesel oil around for the last year, either at Walmart (which I also would rather not support, but not sure that Autozone has much better politics). They seem to have replaced it with Mobil 1 5w30 (which is also called "truck"), but only for gas engines. Pretty much everywhere I've looked. That is why I switched to Rotella T synth. 5w40.
About 3 years ago, you had to get Delvac 1 5w40 special order and hellishly expensive, then they came up with the Mobil 1 5w40, which I think, was the same thing with a different label, and widely available. Now nothing.
Amsoil, which would be the best, is available at Napa here, but it's like 6.70 a quart or something like that. Given that running on veg oil, I'm not going much over 4000K anyway, that seems just excessive.

I use to buy Delvac 1 for I think it was right around $20/gal,, then when you could not find it anymore I went to the Rotella T full Syn which is now $15/gal
at Walmart. I don't know if I wll go back to Mobile for $22 a gal.

I also would like to point out that you need to check the seals on the oil when you buy it. I purchased 4 gals and 2 were returned because the seals were torn back when I took the cap off. I have no idea what oil was dumped in these containers, how low of a guy to do this, imagine putting some crappy 10w30 in when you think it its full syn diesel oil.

I would rather spend $7 more for the IV group every 3k oil change. This thing may outlive me.

However, I have never had a seal problem (has to be an inside job).

You can order Delvac 1 or whatever they are calling it these days for $6.99 a quart from Amazon.com. If shipping is free thats not a bad price.

There you go, will ship right to your door.

I agree I would rather use the Mobile 1 also, I just could not find it for a long time, so I went to the Rotella. Now that I have been running it I think I am going to stay with it. After reading tons and tons about the two oil comparisons the slight advantage that Mobile 1 gives is not worth it to me. After I could not find it I researched Rotella T heavily.
My costs are a little higher because I am using it in two cars, but the TDI is 10k change and the Mercedes is a 5k change.
That being said I am a advocate of everyone using what ever oil they want and changing it when ever they want, it keeps everyone happy. I am just glad to see there is another oil I like on the shelves at wallyworld.
