1985 190d Tranmission Pan Question
 

How hard is it to replace the Tranmission Pan gaskets?

Mine is leaking. Went though 5.9qt's of Fuild in 2 days.

I ordered the gaskets from this site. Just wondering how hard it will be and how long it will take.

That is a very easy job. I would recommend replacing the transmission filter while you are at it. The job should not take over two hours if you take your time and do a good job cleaning the pan.

Are you sure it's the gasket that is leaking? It's is not common that a gasket would start leaking at that rate. Is there more to the story?

I will be replacing the filter also. I'm 99% sure it's the gasket.

As indicated, job is a no-brainer; one to two hours depending upon experience. A word of caution - DO NOT over torque the pan bolts, pan will warp and continue to leak. As a matter of fact, take a close look at the existing pan, and if it shows any deflection at all at the perimeter, save yourself some grief; order a new pan to install with your new gasket.

All went well until 15 miles into the drive after i did the job. The Car will not go into any gear.

I'm not sure what up's with it.
