Uneven tire wear. Improper inflation or worn suspension? PICS!

Here are the left front and left rear tires. Right side tires are similar.

You can see that the left front is wearing on the inside, but even more on the outside. The tire pressure was 34psi when I checked, but since the the max inflation is 44psi, I'll bump the fronts to 40psi and rear to 36psi.

You can also see the left rear is wearing on the inside. It's much less severe than the front, but the only good tire wear is no tire wear, right?

What is causing my tire wear?

I can't tell much from the pictures due to the gravel marks, but from your description, I expect a toe problem.

Also, you are running too much pressure. On a 123, I have found that 32 front and 35 rear is best tire pressure for long wear unless you regularly carry lots of weight.

Hope this helps,

larry is correct, 44 psi is the maximum pressure the tire can safely handle. it has nothing to do with what should be in the tire based on weight. I understand that you are trying to gain more contact with the center by raising the pressure, but it does not work that way with radial tires.
outer and inner wear is attributed to the tires having to overcorrect due to one tire not pointing the same way as the other. toe adjustment can help, but it is usually wear in the tie rods and such. letting one tire cock one way on a turn, and the other has to makeup for it. both sides certainly points to worn suspension parts.

Really? I hadn't heard that. Radials are not pressure sensitive at all, or just much less so than bias ply?

Would some pattern of rotation help get them back into shape?

I'm thinking some pattern of replacement. They are far from new. Just waiting on the next paycheck. But I don't want the next set to suffer the same fate.

yes, you should definitley have them rotated and/or balanced evry 12k, for the price it cost to do it, it is definitley worth it, it appears u have other problems though!

Alignment

Looks like an alignment is in order. And i agree. about the tire pressure. Unless someone took it off, the recommended pressure is on a decal or nameplate at the driver's side either at the door or pillar.

AS to alignment, find a place that has laser equipment besides the MB dealer. The computer of laser alignment machines usually has specs of any vehicle.
