Per SW's request, I am happy to report that, since tuning my wastegate and ALDA settings, I have gotten an average of 26.3 mpg (70% city). This is up from about 23.5, but is admittedly an average taken from only two tankfulls since the adjustments.



Hard to believe that one can achieve both a performance boost as well as a gain in fuel economy! I'm working up the courage to push the envelope and make another 1/8th turn on the ALDA enrichment. And yes, I'm aware of the rule of diminishing returns.

Now, on to cosmetic concerns...

I am confused. When you turn the ALDA to enrich the engine, you suppose to get worse mpg. 24 mpg is about right for normal 300D/SD.

Not necessarily. I think one may get worse mileage if one were to abuse the new-found power after enriching the mixture.
