found an old 200 in a yard is that a diesel

I found an OLD 200 in a salvage yard. It looks ok but it's on top of a SUV. The body looks ok It has a funky looking front bumper. Looks like a police bumper with 2 vertical rubber bumpers on it,like a tiny pushing bumper. It also has spoke wheels with the Mercedes emblem on it. I've never seen wheels like that. are the collectable. Is the car collectable. It Definately looks like a 70's model. RAY M

'70s models cover alot of ground. I believe there was European 200 w123 diesel that we never saw in the USA.

200 and 220 were never sold here afaik. Then again who really wants to go that slow? Even my 85 yr old grand ma does 160+km/h on the autobahn.

My 220D is missing on one cylinder. Its super fun slow to drive. Top speed of say 35 (on a flat surface). I can't imagine it gets any better.

I know the 220 was sold here. My father drove a 68 220D for a few years in the late 70's.

Is the 200 in question a W110, W115, or W123? I know the 200D finback (W110) was sold here because I was looking into buying one (a '66 i think) a year ago....if the car doesn't have a "D" in the name it's probably a carbrueted gasser, or so I would think....

No 220 or 200 was sold in w123 chassis here. I know less about other chassis.

This is a 200 with a 123 body the trunk emblem has 200 but no d thats why I ask if it might be a diesel. I had a 220 30 to 35 yrs ago, but don't remember a 200 with a 200. I will try to get a pic if it's not raining in Louisiana on wed. It is sitting on top of a SUV. Kind of looks nice way up there. should i try and get the spoke rims off of it that have mercedes written in the center. They look like 123 PIMP rims. How funny does that sound. Later on Wed or Thurs 3/1/07

It may be kinda fun to rebadge a 300 turbo as a 200D
