IIRC, it is a 30mm socket. I want to do the job as concisely as I can. I did the job less than 3K ago, and it is back to being uneven again. From what I have read, this may be more to do with knocking carbon loose. I have also not done a thing with the injectors, so that may be a better part of my trouble for all I know. I also have not reamed the glow plug holes, and it is indeed a little hard to start if it is in the 20s F or lower.

Longstoryshort, I wanted to be sure I was doing this as correctly as possible.

No worries, man. I just knew that it had take too long for my needs. I had no intention in bad-mouthing you, I didn't know all of your situation and it isn't my place to judge anyone but me. The only thing that I think would have helped matters is if you could have let me know that I was not forgotten, and you have had a few setbacks... I don't hold a grudge, no worries. I may get your help with rebooting my axles if CVJ can't help, but we will have to come together on a timeline of how that might work, as this is my DD.

I hope you are able to sort things out in a way that helps you best.

Thanks, your personality is awesome. I'm close to being caught up.

dredging up and old thread, but wanted to add some pics of my homemade wrenches.
I have a set of the Hazet wrenches. My mom just bought her second OM617 powered W123. She now needs her own set. So I made her these for her.

Thats a Harbor Freight grinder disc wrench

My friend offered to let me powder coat them at his place, and then I'm going to plasti-dip the handles of the wrenches.

Nice, but it is a bad idea to weld on zinc coated metals. The fumes are a bone poison, during lots of milk afterwards.

I'm rarely one to argue against safety, but on the other hand I've never found any credible evidence that welding galvanized steel is as serious as anyone says or that drinking milk for supposed symptoms is anything but a folk remedy. "Bone poison" is a new one though.

At any rate, welding a couple bolts wouldn't even give me pause after all the research I've done. It seems you're much more likely to get sick from any other part of the welding process, which seems to be why zinc fume problems are so anecdotal.

I’m just passing on what I was told. I haven’t done any research.

That's the problem with urban legends.

I highly recommend looking into it. It's fascinating that so many people can believe something and it even appears in official information from the likes of Lincoln and Miller, yet there's nothing backing it up. Doesn't that blow anyone else's mind??

I'm quite awed by such things. Not that this is a cooking forum, but another similar one is eating tomato leaves. They're poisonous and deadly!! But actually no death from them has ever occurred, they're quite edible and tasty, and nobody really knows why anyone thought they were poisonous.
