1979 240D Starter and Testing ??s
Question 1. Anyone have the exact electrical trouble shooting method or a link on how to use a volt meter to test the starting circuit. I tried replacing ingnition switch thinking that was the problem. Well car still does not start getting a slight clicking noise and no lights when key is in the #2 position. All connections look solid batter is good. I think it is the solenoid. I am a little week electrically and need some exact spoon feeding on this please.
Question 2. on this vintage car can I remove the starter without moving the transmission fill and dipstick tube? car is an automatic. Any help I would sure appreciate it. I did a search came up with some good info. Regards Tom |

Caint the auto tranny dipstick tube just be roped out of the way after unbolted from wherever its attached the bell housing? Meanwhile word on the street is replacement starter motor from same vintage turbo 300D parts catalogue adds one helluva ballsy upgrade that bolts right in and provides lightning fast starts with the 240D.
