accessing inside of rear door-- `87 300sdl

i'm trying to un-dent my rear door on this wonderful car but i cant figure out how to get to the inside of the door. i tried removing the four-five screws i could find (most of them on the latching mechanism) but the door didnt seem to want to come off -- i wasnt even sure what direction to pull. any instructions or even advice you guys could provide for getting to the inside of the rear (passenger) door would be really superb.

Once you remove the screws from the door latch, armrest and any others visible, unscrew the lock knob. The door panel has to lift up about 1/2" and then pull away from the door. The door panel hooks on the sheet metal along the top edge and at numerous locations around its perimeter. Lifting it upwards moves the plastic hooks upwards in their slots so you can then pull it away

Thumbs up

First remove the trim over the opera window. Small phillips. Then remove the door lamp with a small flat head, disconnect wiring

Two at the latch to the body

Use a small flat head, pop this black retainer off from around the door handle. Again, use small phillips.

Slide retainer down, remove large phillips. There are two more large phillips on the handle.

Panel lifts up then out. Disconnect ash tray wiring.

I've done this so much, I can have one off in about 5min. NOW - putting it back on is going to make you swear quite a bit.

Six others from BMW, GM, and Ford.
