euro manual transmission driveshaft - front flex disc
hey fellas, I am in the process of swapping the 4spd manual from my euro spec parts car to my '83 turbo diesel. I noticed that the front flex disc from the euro parts car is not similar to the flex disc that you can purchase from Fastlane. The euro flex disc is triangular shaped with a large ring molded over it. It's extremely tough (not maleable at all) when compared to the front flex disc that came out of automatic driveshaft. It's in pretty bad shape and needs to be replaced. Will it be OK if I use the flex discs from Fastlane for both the front and rear? Incidentally, the rear flex disc is identical to the one from the automatic.

Must be a weird aftermarket part. Both of my manual cars have had the standard type.

You could be right. I think the stiffness of the disc is what prevented me from getting the driveshaft out. It would not compress at all. I eventually took the differential and axle shafts out in order to free up the drive shaft. The diff in the euro is a 3.69.

You should have been able to loosen the clamping nut between the two parts of the drive shaft and then slid them together to get the shaft out. Don't for get to mark alignment of the two driveshaft parts so you can re-align them!

I concur. My box-stock Euro 240D also had the typical looking disks that you'd get from Fastlane.
