By the time the officer got to my window I had the window rolled down, my handgun permit and drivers license in hand, and my hands clearly visable on the top of the steering wheel. I started out the conversation by handing him the handgun permit.

From there it went into a discussion of what I was carrying and where they were. (.22 in the door pocket and the 9mm by the seat.) He did not ask to see them or my registration. He did ask me to slow it down and sent me on my way.

All in all it went very well.

Exactly as Jadavis said. ALWAYS offer up the information beforehand, hand them your permit and license at the same time, tell them where it (or they with some of you ) is and keep your hands where they can see them. I don't get stopped very often anymore as I've smartened (read aged), but they were always very appreciative of the fact that I made them aware of it and mutually respectful.

I thought CT had pretty stiff CCW regulations... I wouldn't mind at all having my G30 in there as well... but here in Cali things are even much worse...

I am glad for you... I assumed wrong, picturing that CT is right above NY, which is absolutely restrictive in this sense. And yes, your choice (H&K) is a very good one.
Also SigSauer is excellent (still German, isn't it? but I might be wrong). Glock is Austrian, not quite German it's true... but my G30 in .45 acp works flawlessly and is a great SD weapon... (10 in the clip is the maximum allowed here anyway)
I am glad to see that many of us here still believe in the constitutional right to own and bear firearms. I know that a couple of states just above you (New Hampshire and Vermont) have the most favorable laws in the US, very liberal for gun owners. I would have moved to either one a long time ago, precisely for this reason) if it weren't for the very cold climate. After living in CA for several years one gets used to the beautiful mild weather here, and that's hard to give up... but CA is a ***** of a state for people with our preferences. AZ is also a very good one, but the heat there kills you during the summer...

my $.02 worth...

My 300E has
Owners manual
Reg and ins cards
Mini Maglite
Yashica Electro 35 camera

I sold my future ex-wife's Sentra the other night and the only thing scarier than the glovebox was the trunk. they reminded of the fairground right after the circus pulls out of town. When I first met her I saw what she had done to a 240D, I should have run like hell then.
