what apparatus do the pros use..?
I don't really have much faith in DP other than as snake oil so IMO, you got robbed. I would rather have the injectors out and tested instead of just cleaning them, assuming that DP will do that. Maybe they are fine and don't need anything done. Without testing, you will never know. Maybe they are getting dirty and you ran DP thru it and it cleaned it out some but not all. You again will not know.

Well, I have heard that some people have rigged something up. However, I wouldn't bother. Now, if I had a fleet, I might think about it. Since I test it say once every 100K and the price for my 6 injectors to be tested and one of them cleaned was $70, why should I bother to build my own and all that? I mean, how often would I use it? Enough to justify the time and cost? I think not.

You can make your own tester for about $30 or so.

You've obviously never done a DP aklim. You might be surprised at how quiet yours would run while running on DP if you did so.

Snake oil? No. Good maint after doing injector or IP work. Yes. Periodic cleaner. Yes.

Like yours, mines already quieter than anything but a new CDI. Burning DP from a temp tank you would never know it was a diesel standing next to it.

I've found that running half a can through from cold start to full operating temp and then letting it sit a few hours before restarting and burning the other can and one half works best.

I have a friend that moved away but IIRC, he made one for about $300. Is the $30 one easy to use and is it reliable? Not saying it isn't but I haven't seen one that cheap.

No. I once considered it but decided against it. I decided to take the injectors out so that I know for sure it is working within spec. I fugured that after 100K, if only one injector needed to be cleaned, I would do it as a PM thing every 100K

Not really. Different fuel, different sound characteristics.

Some people say a quart or two of ATF cleans the system as good as DP. What do you guys think?

Used ATF as alternative fuel?
