Nice to see a young couple having fun on vacation and in such a nice ride. Interesting story, didn't realize batteries could die so quick. Any idea how old the brushes are on your alternator's regulator?

At first I thought it was the regulator, but now that the new battery is in it puts out 14.1V when driving even with lots of stuff on, like all the lights and radio and climate control etc....it even stays above 13V with the rear defroster on. So it must be producing plenty of power....very odd. My alternator is not the original, its a rebuild from sometime before I got the car (pre-207k) and it has the old style regulator on it. When it goes I may just replace the whole alternator since the old style regulator costs more....

I think if I had a nice new expensive MB battery, I would install a new regulator. Just a thought......

The battery has a full 2 year warranty....and the system seems to be working fine so far....I may just replace the whole alternator sometime this summer.
