36ish hours till I set out for florida!

It is currently a blizzard here. I cleaned out the trunk and back of my car in prep for the trip, checked and topped off all fluids, inspected the engine compartment/belts/etc....its running great. Went and had the tires all rotated and balanced, so thats all set. I'll be heading to Lansing, MI tomorrow night, then Sunday morning my fiance and I will be heading down I75 for as long as we can take it, then we'll stop for the night, and finish the rest of the trip the next day. We're going to try to make it past at least Atlanta in the first leg of the trip. So about 900 miles. We're headed to Dade City, FL and will be going to Orlando on either Tuesday or Wednesday when we're down there, and then to Clearwater at some point too. We come back sat/sun.

Here's to no things breaking along the way!

I also bought two 32oz jugs of the PowerService DieselKleen stuff to see if it helps my mileage any....I'm going to do one whole bottle for the first fillup, then half a bottle for the next two. I've been getting about 22 on the freeway, hopefully warm weather and the powerservice will bump it back up to the 25-27 I usually get.

Good luck, my friend. Don't forget a blanket or tarp of some sort *just in case* you need to lay under the car for any fixes. Got a floor jack you can throw in the trunk, too? Spare is inflated to proper pressure? Be careful and enjoy the trip!

I do not know if the transmission cooler lines are clamped to the motor of your SD as on my '84 300d {123}but once the plastic clamp liners fail {mine did at 220k}the vibration may wear a hole in the line with attendant disaster. Mine decided to do it on the way home from Vermont.

Good thing to check everything underneath that either spins or carries fluid.
Best of luck.

Have fun, I left St. Joe, MI at about noon today heading home to CO (about 1100 miles). I made it to the middle of IA before the weather got pretty bad (very windy here), so I stopped for the night. Have a safe trip.

Thanks everyone! I will hopefully not have any problems, but I'll put out the call for help if something happens. Its an absolute blizzard here right now, I can't wait to get going on Sunday morning, my car is currently being covered by a snow drift due to the 35mph winds and snow out there...

Oh and we'll be going to Florida to visit my fiance's grandparents, they have a travel trailer they towed down to a site in Dade City for the winter. (They live near Lansing, MI) We'll stay with them for the week and visit Disney World one of the days and Clearwater another probably so we can see a warm beach....its hard to even imagine one of those exists right now!

My car is going to be confused by the lack of snow.

Pawo;

I hope you have a digital camera to take & post a few pic's of any cool places along the way.

It is sort of winter break now in Florida so the parks may be slightly crowded but considering where you're coming from in icy weather you probably don't care.

It should feel great when you get into Florida & can shut the heat; open the windows & the Sunroof ( that's the middle button on the dash that you never use...(: ) throw the sweatshirts in the backseat, and put on your sunglasses.

BTW If you have a radar detector it may be a good thing since you do like the hi speeds & Florida troopers are not too cool on out of state plates...

We've got a real nice digicam and will take tons of pictures, also, I'll be going the speed limit...diesel is expensive right now!! (and I don't want to chat with any troopers)

I poured 32oz of Powerservice dieselkleen into my tank today when adding 5 gallons of diesel....and it already seems to run smoother.... Maybe psychological...but then again it was a 200% dose.
