1984 300d gives 44 mpg, huh?

Check out this ad on Craigslist. Hmmm, something tells me that this guy REALLY wants to sell his car.

Anyone that buys a car off of craig's list or flea-bay is just about retarded. So the 44 mpg claim seems reasonable

Never change your oil, and save the EARTH and possibly your children's limbs or life!

Only as retarded as that statement. Both are excellent sources of vehicles as long as caveat emptor. I personally would never buy a vehicle I cant test drive and look under the hood, but I know plenty of people who have and have had no problems.

44 sounds bs in an 85 he might get better than avg mileage (2.88 diff). I don't even know that is really feasible in a 2.47 diff. Maybe in a 2.47 diff in a 5 speed manual in fifth gear at 1800rpm. Infact I would be interested to hear on anyone that has a 2,47 and a manual.

Must be "new math" ... since when does 31mpg = 44 mpg? And what does he mean by "road rally tuned" and "Turbo boost set for performance" Is he pushing 26 psi?
If you are near there check it out

I bought my car off Craigslist. Nothing wrong with it. Just an online newspaper.

I think he was using the 440 on 14 gallons as his city driving usage. I wrote him to let him know if the car gave 44 mpg hwy, he should give it to Mercedes for their museum; as it's about 10 mpg more than others give.

I did not see where the seller claimed 44 MPG. He just said 440 miles on 14 gal. average.
Maybe I missed something in the post.

What the heck are you talking about? Craigslist is just a local online classifieds. Guess you better throw people who buy used cars from the paper in the retarded category too.

Anyway I have got a few of my cars off of craigslist. Does that make me retarded? Last time I called somebody retarded on this board I got a spanking...

I guess I'd rather be retarded and own my nice 300D from Ebay than brag about never changing my oil again....

Price seems kind of high for that milage, but those are some sweet rims! I wouldn't mind having those on my wagon. What would be the cost of those apiece? If it were closer, I might buy the car and swap rims/tires and resell for a fair price.
