What do I need to change to halogen?
I've gone the search route, but the only thing I've learned is that every single mercedes built has a different headlight assembly! I finally got the headlight off to replace the burned out one, but after reading around here I've decided to put in halogens. In my particular model ('90 350SDL) will I have to replace the wipers or change out the connections or anything? I want brighter/better lights than the DOT ones that are currently on. Suggestions? Are replacement lights available at any generic type auto supply place or do I have to go to a dealership? Hurry - my car looks stupid right now without whatever that was I took off!

You have "Halogens".
You're probably looking for European lights, lots of threads on it, search "euro lights". If you want to keep using the headlamp wipers, my experience with the W201 and T124 is that the European lights use a different wiper motor and it sweeps the other direction to catch both lights, not interchangeable and very $$ for the Euro motor assembly and trim strips, might be the same for your car. Call Rusty at www.*************** and he'll know what you need. 800.741.5252 |
third part is the headlights for your car.
http://importvision.com/index.php?display=show_part.php&PartMake=Mercedes&select_PartType=Headlights priced at $205 for the set. You can use the stock wipers with these euros. The W126 seems to be the only one that are interchangable. |
I must have the dullest halogens ever! Babymog - after all that hard work, all I have to change is the bulb?? Thanks for the links to both of you - I'll be contacting Rusty on Monday.
BTW, is it kosher to post a few entirely different threads in a row? I have more questions. |
