Here's a question........

Has anybody done back-to-back tests with NEW GERMAN made Bosch nozzles that were Pop & spray tested, then done the same with Bosio's?

Maybe the "awesome power and takeoff" that everyone's raving about is just because any new nozzle is better than one with 250K miles on it..........

The dealer sold me the "made in India ones, and then the "part time deisel guy, who rebuilt them said he could've gotten the real German ones ( for less btw). These weren't reman. Any I told him to go ahead and use the India ones, but to check them carefully.

Wish I had kept it 100% original content.

I am sending the nozzle that got screwed up after 5000 miles to the Bosio buy and I'll let youse all know what he says.

But that is a good question - where can I buy the proper French BOsch nozzles? Or can I get Elsbett WVO nozzles by themselves?

I'm looking at an electric heater for the gas tank that will be powered by a small solar panel on the parcel shelf. I may also insulate the gas tank.

Sorry ,I don't mean to rain on your parade but the parcel shelf is not big enough for a collector to give you enough power to run a heater. Lets say you want to install a 300 watt heater, you would need on the bare minimum 9 sq.ft.of panel to power the heater. About the size of your car roof. Coolant heat is the most compact and cost efficient. Also a heated fuel pickup line is needed, you don't want to heat the tank much more than say 100F, to prevent polymerization of the oil ( do not use steel or copper , chemical reaction takes place causing polymerization) Stainless , aluminum or plastic are the best. Just my 2 cents

Truth, making heat from elctricity is always grossly inefficient.

Mark, btw, this guy Dan ( Accurate Diesel), really seems to know his stuff. He's P/T only, a full time government employee like you! $10 a pop for an injector rebuild. The "certified Bosch" guys in town wanted $70!!!

Kinda wish I had bougth your vintage, this one is a PITA to get to anything, esp fuel lines!

I second that question and will ask it again.

WHERE CAN YOU GET REAL FRENCH OR GERMAN BOSCH TIPS IN A BALANCED SET OF INJECTORS???

I have been researching the best injectors and everone agrees that this is the best set up, but who can build and balance a set that can be trusted to be done right, with the good parts?

If we knew where you live someone might answer you.

You can put this info in your profile by going to the USER CP section and filling out the requested information.

I have a supply of OEM French Bosch injector nozzles in their OEM containers + original boxes that held 10 containers. Given the alternatives, I know their value and have held on to them. IF (and I repeat, IF) you could get them from the dealer (instead of the Indian nozzles) the list price would be around $60 each, which is what they get for Indians.

I may have time to put some of them up on EBay tomorrow - there's a 25-cent special on auction listings. I'd also take orders here by PM.

Price will be $50 each. Well worth that to fix the injectors to OEM quality one time and be done with it for another 300K miles or so.

Ken300D

Carfax is $25 for 30 days. Autocheck is the same price for 60 days.

italian made Bosch nozzles are available from Merlindiesel.com in the UK for about $15 each, plus shipping.

EDIT: The Bosio supplier said the injector seemed gummed up, so it was my fuel. I'm not sure I agree. I'm sure all VWO mercs don't have gummed up injectors. If they did, surely we'd know about it? I use injector cleaner in each tank full.

SO now I'm not sure what to do - get Italian Bosch's or use the Bosio's in my wife's 92 300D (which I might convert to run 50% WVO single tank.)

Alastair / H.C.II- any comment on the quality of the Italian Bosch nozzles from Merlin Diesel? Did you know they were Italian?

I contacted him now to see what he had - he says those nozzles are for 616 617 601/2/3 - but those engines use different nozzles. What did he send you ? DN0SD240 or the 265?

After the auction ended, when he sent me the invoice, he asked me to advise him what Year, Model, Engine etc. Because I did ask howa 617 and 603 could use the same and he told me they didnt. He had both kinds.

i figured this out pretty quickly on paper. looking at the current requirements for even a very small heater, you'd have to have the entire trunklid be a giant solar panel to see any noticeable heating happening.

what seems to be working very well for me so far is a coolant heat exchanger just before the clear filter, an electric fuel filter heater that only runs for the first couple of minutes after startup (basically until the coolant heat exchanger is working), and injector line heaters. i don't have a way to measure the vegoil temp at the injectors, but the little heat exchanger before the filter (arctic fox 'trendsetter') is heating the oil to close to 140F with ambient temp of 85F. the biggest difference, by far, has been upgrading the glow system with the duratherm system. smokeless starts, and smooth idle when cold.

i now have around 2500 miles on the bosios but haven't had time to pull one for visual inspection as i'd planned. but operationally, the car is still running like a scalded cat...
