123 steering column removal
 

i have a 1984 300d i want to pick up another steering column for it from one of those "pull your own" junk yards.
how can i pull one of these column without the key being in the ignition ?

Took one out at a junkyard one time (don't know why), but was able to fish it out from behind the dash after disassembling quite a bit of stuff under the dash. So know it is possible. There really isn't much to the column anyway. Might be easier if you removed the dash first which I didn't.

You need a cut off wheel and cut right above the seering column stem. once you cut through its a matter of getting the collar of. Not to hard but not that easy.
