Good Source for Injector Shims & Heat Shields?

I'm finally putting together my injector tester and have about 20 injectors to rebuild and tune, so need to get my hands on a kit of shims and a good number of heat shields. Does anyone know of a good source to get either?

I've done quite a bit or Yahoo/Google searching for the shims with little luck, and would like to get a bulk deal on the heat shields.

Thanks! :)

Why don't you call Phil at this site? I'm sure he can get them for you. Just click on "Buy Parts" at the top of the page and you'll see the phone number.

Thanks for the links! ******** has the heat shields for a little over a buck a piece whereas everyone else is pricing them a $2+, but no one including here has the injector shims. I emailed Phil and he replied that they would be a dealer-only part.

Guess I'll take an injuector apart and take a shim with me to some local diesel servicers to see what they have on hand that matches.

check your local john deere parts dept.. Bring a mic with you as well

I bought injector shims from Rusty (***************) two or three years ago. Dunno if he's still able to get them. IIRC, of the dozen or so sizes the manual says are available he was only able to get one or two.

I guess I could hit Fields in either Winter Haven or Wauchula. Have you purchased shims from JD in the area?

I got some heat shields for you, 5 bought them at the dealership 6 weeks ago. Don't need them anymore, for $9,- I ship them to you.

Thanks for the offer, but I just ordered 30 from ******** the other day. ;)

IF I understand, the shims are used to alter the pressure, if you need to. Don't know why you would want to replace with same size, I might be missing something, wouldn't be the first time. You'll have to test first.

That's why I'm looking preferably for a "kit" containing an assortment of thicknesses. Not to mention I'll be lapping some for precision. I also have an assortment of vintage Caterpillar and Detroit Diesel engines to care for as well in my collection, so the more tools and accessories the better! :D

IIRC, usdiesel.com has a kit with a bunch of the merc shims in it - it's about $250 and seems to be for dealers or injector geek shops.
