It's a joke on your wallet. Unless you have a nearly-free source (as racing teams do), it's not worth the money. Certainly not worth a few bucks a tire.

Way back (79) I worked at a self service gas station. I woman came in and asked if I would put "winter air" in her tires , She said she would be glad to pay me. I looked out at the car, and there sits her husband, rolling his eyes . I explained to her that for insurance reasons, we were not allowed to do this. She explained that her mechanic had always done this for her, but had recently closed up shop, could I recommend someone. I said possibly and asked if she knew where "Sandy's" was......No, but maybe my husband does. Great, so out to the car I go. With a smerk on his face, I explained again why I couldn't help him, and with a smile and a wink, told him I would call ahead and let Sandy know they was coming. I let Sandy know the story, and he was ready for them. He changed the air out quickly....NO CHARGE. They promised to bring the car back for oil changes and normal maint. and repairs, and they went on their merry way.
The next day the husband stops by to see me. Seems way back in the 50's they got a new car, HIS CHOICE, she never liked it, and found things to complain about. After many trips to the dealer, who found nothing wrong, he suggested maybe an old timer might be helpful.......Oldtimer ask one question after looking the car over. Did you change over from winter air to summer air?.......NO. Well thats yer problem. The mechanic commensed to flattening all 5 (can't forget the spare) and pumping them up again......PROBLEM SOLVED. The woman had been having it done twice a yr ever since. Sandy picked up where the other guy left off, NO CHARGE, just come back when ya need work done.

I never fail to remember this @ the change of seasons

Pat Goss

MotorWeek's Patt Goss said nitrogen is dry where air has moisture. Here in Virginia, we can't get summer or winter air. We can only get night air. It helps you go faster. Swear.

yeah, nitrogen has none of that compressed water vapor, or the 21%oxygen that regular air has...big whoop.
I have great source for nitrogen, in the HVAC trade, we have to carry a cylinder of it for purging and pressure testing lines. the entire cylinder takes 6.00 to fill. lasts for years filling lines with 300psi of nitrogen... How much are you paying for nitrogen in your tires?

Vstech, do you mean 3000psi? That sounds more reasonable.

the tank has 3000psi, but I only pump up the lines in the a/c to 300 for leak checks. actually unless I am concerned about something, I usually only pump up to 100 in the lines.

Now is this a waste if digital space or what. But to be on the safe side I'll remove the ransid smelly old air from my tires and put in some new air? That old air is a lil tinky.

Actually I'm just jelous of the 20+ responses and I get only three when tyring to find my wastegate diaphragm. I't does not hold air. Should I try the local clinic for one?

I've been using the same air since 1937, changing it is a waste of time and a source of pollution. Just to prove it, I'm never going to change my air again. I'll let you know if my tires blow up.

While you're at it, be sure to change the air in your aerial. But only if it's a Hirschmann.

......and use the factory approved stuff.
