I bought an '83 300D auto on Ebay in December. In Syracuse, New York for $785, PO said second gear was gone, but I was able to tweak the vac system and it runs and shifts great. Also a little surface rust that I can take care of. My '83 240D manual , I bought on Ebay for $2325 in immaculate condition, I would say an 8 out of 10. $2800 is way high, I guess to say about $2000 would be my upper limit.
