Large bubble in fuel line. Concern?

subject car: 1999 E300D

I've noticed this bubble in the fuel line just before the pre-filter. It doesn't appear to be causing any operational problems. Is it a concern? It seems like it's getting larger as the months pass.

Thanks.

Any leaks at

the lift pump or upstream of it? Best guess = somewhere in that neighborhood is a small leak drawing in air that may, or not, seep fuel.

Tom - The line leading from the fuel heater/thermo to the pre-filter should drain back at shutdown. Thats normal.

If air is present while running one of those two orings or the pre-filter oring are leaking.
