1983 300D AC/Heater Question...

Hey all, I am about ready to start looking at my Climate Control Unit problems so I looked through four pages of results from a search and couldn't find anyone with this problem. So basically, my system is super quirky and will only work if I do things a certain way.

First of all I can only get air to blow out of the center and side vents... nothing out of the defrost or the foot vents ever.

Second, I can only get the CCU to start if I have the temp guage set to MAX cold and I have the blower set to max. If I have anything different, it won't start. Once the air is blowing out, then I can change it to MAX hot and can change the blower to minimum or auto.

This method works for both the regular AC options and for defrost... either way they do the same thing. Defrost just blows air out the front vents.

If I put it on economy, the blower will cut out, either right away or within a few minutes.

If I try to start the system with heat, it won't even turn on.

If I try to start the system with minimum blowing, it won't even turn on.

Ok, I believe that sums it up.... sorry if it was confusing. If anyone has any ideas please pass them my way....

Thanks,
David

It sounds like the push button unit acting up, either replace it with a rebuilt unit or take it part and try to fix it yourself, people have had mixed results trying to fix them.
