Injector Bypass Hose Question

I noticed that the area towards the ends of all the injector bypass hoses are moist with fuel and some accumulation just below each one. The hoses don't look that old or frayed. Is it a safe bet that the fuel is seeping out of the tips? How much pressure is inside the hoses anyway?

Does someone know the diameter of the hose so I know what exactly to order? iS THE PART SHOWN IN THIS LINK THE RIGHT ONE? Thanks.

Yes it is the injector return line or bypass hose as they call it. The price looks pretty good as well. So if their shipping is not outrageous it should work out great. That particular hose is the only practical solution to the problem I am aware of. Volkswagon dealers and volkswagon aftermarket outlets will stock it locally as well but check price. Same hose. Used on injectors in their pre 96 engines.

When I replaced mine, there wasn't any signs of fraying, only hardening of the rubber. Since they are press fit, loss of elasticity causes them to seep.

This is the hose you want:http://catalog.eautopartscatalog.com/mercedesshop/sophio/quote.jsp?clientid=catalog.mercedesshop&cookieid=2100LE29A2190ROWR7&baseurl=http://catalog.peachparts.com/&partner=mercedesshop&year=1985&product=D1030-21332&application=000005201 290mm/12in is plenty.

NOT a good company.

Very poor product support even when THEY ship the wrong part. Also, non existent customer support.

Fast lane is a much better idea - go to the top of this page and click "buy parts."

You'll see Roy and Phil - ing at you!!

They sell good parts and ship them quickly

Go with Fastlane if the OEM style is what you are looking for.

If you plan on running biodiesel I have the viton tubing, and other viton components, at my website:
http://www.fryerpower.com/store/page11.html

If you don't need viton, stick with Phil! I've had nothing but great success with the MULTIPLE orders I have placed with them.

Sometimes you can get by temporarily by cutting a 1/2 inch off the end of the hose and putting it back in place. (Until you get your replacement hose)

Last time I got some of this, it cost me $11 for a meter. That was at a dealer. It's cheaper online if you have enough stuff to get free shipping, but otherwise probably not.

There are many who have had orderS dropped through the cracks as well as items shipped incorrectly with FL...

Each place messes up.

Thanks

Thanks for all the responses. I have had good luck with most if not all the online places I have bought parts from. And yes, I do have other stuff I need to get anyway (tranny modulators, thermostats, bumper brackets, monovalve diaphrams, etc). Just from this list I know shipping will be free.

I have not had the opportunity to deal with Fast Lane yet but have with ********az, ********, alleuropean and performanceproducts4benz. No complaints. I usually shop for best price since the D's do require regular maintenance.

The dealer wanted $17 for a meter. Online, I can guess that would be more than the cost of a meter of the hose with shipping, duh.....

I've had very good service from Fastlane.

You must use either the OEM or viton, everything else leaks pretty quickly (and I've seen some rather creative stuff!). The new stuff is gray rather than black, it may have more resistance to biodiesel, although I've never had any trouble with the old stuff.

The rubber gets hard and glassy -- I've seen the so hard the snap if you push on them, but not leaking. Once they start to leak, they are shot -- trimming the end won't help, the rubber just splits as you push it on, if it doesn't break off instead.

Make sure you get all the old stuff off the nipples before you attempt to push a new line on -- a small bit stuck on there acts like a knife blade and will neatly slit the rubber!

Plan on changing it every three years or so, more often if you put lots of miles on the car.

Not sure if my observation is good but seems like this started after I began using a popular diesel additive. Could it be that it made the fuel thinner thus allowing it to seep easier?

Viton injector return line

Where's a good place to get viton and what diameter?
