Both of mine are cracked.

Does replacement net a huge loss in noise?

Why does the bracket crack so often?

Heat shields hold water

Of course you could always buy them here if I run out-

JWJ,

THe reason the brackets break is poor design The bracket isn't thick enough to resist vibration which work hardens it. It then becomes brittle and breaks.

I made brackets out of thicker steel and they haven't broken.

Don't believe everthing you hear.:D

All of the heat shields I replaced had an extra little drain hole to alleviate such a thing.;)

Wouldn't the heat generated by the turbocharger evaporate any standing water...

WHere do the heat shields fit in? I never saw any shields on any of my 3 300SDs.

Between air cleaner bracket and the mount.

I found that when I install my heat shields on the 300D they only added to the noise
Maybe I was too afraid I'd tear them by over tighten them.

How, they should be tight under the rubber mounts?
