How do you remove a stuck pre-chamber

1980, 300SD, 101k, 617.950 engine.

Problem 1. At 2500 RPM sounds like a small ball bearing loose in #5. I have the slide hammer type tools but have not been able to pull the pc. The pc ball appears to be there and is not loose. When I removed the injector it had black oil on it up the threaded area and also in the well. Not sure how oil could get to that area? The glow plug had a small amount of carbon but cleaned off with a rag. The pc puller shown in the manual appears to be a better puller but have not been able to locate one.

Problem 2. In the shop, engine at temp.-----A slight knock can be heard starting at 2000 RPM up to 2400. Sound like it could be a rod or pin and is not very loud. Can also be heard pulling a small hill at the same RPM. Using a scope, the sound is about the same at the oil pan as it is at the head.
My intent was to pull the pc and inspect with a boar scope but have not been able to get it out. Car runs strong and oil pressure at hot idle is about 2.

Would appreciate your experience/knowledge with either or both of these problems.

Just to double check... you've removed the glow plug and the threaded ring?

It took me a while to pull mine... I had to beat on them with the slide hammer for a good couple minutes. Once it broke loose it still needed beat on to pull the rest of it out... so how much abuse have you given it with the slide hammer? Maybe it just needs a little more

Before you try to get the prechamber out though, you should check your injectors' spray pattern. It is simply amazing just how horrible the engine can sound from simply a bad injector!!!

Whenever you do get it put back together make sure you rotate the engine a couple times by hand to make sure that you didn't drop anything in there... trust me on this

Best of luck!

Was the prechamber having a problem? I think I may have the same Death Rattle noise.

Does the sound change when you loosen the injector line for #5?
