intake fitting blown off

blah blah blah lets make a long story short.. the turbo surged, and blew a fitting clean out of the intake. i think it was the boost pressure sensor, mounted on top of the intake manifold with a line running to it.
i found this- http://www.prostreetonline.com/oem/wizard.asp?year=1983&make=MB&model=300-DT-001&category=B&part=Boost+Pressure+Sensor
is the sensor necessary? what could happen if i stick a bolt in the hole now in the manifold? if i do have to replace it, where can i get one for cheaper than the link above?

It's a 16psi pressure switch to PREVENT OVERBOOST.

It's a pretty pointless sensor for you.

You really need to turn the boost back to 13psi.

Wow......am I just one of the many forum members that saw that one coming?

The German engineers say 13psi is what it should operate at/what it was designed for. USE 13PSI!

Wow! To blow a threaded steel fitting out of the aluminum casting, you must have been around 1500PSI!!! One hell of a "turbo surge".

I doubt he actually blew the entire switch out of the manifold. Most likely just blew the internal switch guts out the top.

Turn down your boost... There is no point running boost that high, you don't even have enough fuel to burn... Or just leave the hole there, probably better for your enigne anyway

Pretty soon he's going to want to know of a cheaper source of these. And these.
