I have another problem with my e300d, when I push down on the drivers side fender there is a pretty loud squeak in the suspension, the car only has about 58,000 miles I would not think ball joints but does anybody have any ideas, can anything be lubricated on these cars? Thanks for any help.

How loud? Ball joints usualy "pop" when they go bad.

I'd bet its the shock, they are only really are good for 10 years or 100k miles.

My guess is sway bar bushing. They're exposed and get dried out.

They are not too hard to replace (sway bar comes off car pretty easy) or smear some silicone grease or spray between the bushing and bar. Good time to do links too if you are replacing the bushings.

I've heard reports that the upper spring perches can squeak when they're about to go.

The miles are low, however it's over a decade old and the grease [U]may be drying in the ball joints. They're expensive and appear difficult to replace. My ball joints squeeked loudly when I turned the wheels.
My solution after investigating replacing ball joints was to drill a hole at the bottom of the ball joint and installed a self threading grease zerk. Idea from a mechanic friend.
After squeezing new grease in the passenger side joint, sqweaking stopped and this was over 1 year ago.
I will soon do the drivers side as well as prevention.

upper control arms? lower controll arms? thats my guess
