Stripped weight from the bus??? Trying to improve its acceleration and top end? These are reliable machines but the top speed just doesn't cut it on this side of the Atlantic.

Don't those have a 616? I don't buy that 90 HP statement.
30 ton capacity?! Maybe at 5 mph Bondo would be great to seal up the roof....

Still a cool van. You could always stick a 617 in it with a .307 or so diff........

16-19mpg isnt impressive at all. Im thinking the eng is just to small. I'd imagine a 617 doing alot better. My wife and I have been looking for a camper and while steep I'd pay the $$$ just so I can be the only RV'er in the lot rolling around in a Benzo

Not a 616. A 616 van would end with the number '7' for 70hp. It's a 90hp engine. OM 352?
Wait a minute, I take that all back. It could be a 616. For some reason, I think they labelled all their passenger buses 309d even if the engine horsepower did not exactly correspond to the last digit. They are the one exception to the "Last two digits are the hundreds and tens place of the horsepower of the engine" rule.

That befuddled me too until I realized it was nothing but vans... that would make my 300sdl a 00 hp car... or would it make my 603 an 03 hp engine??? About right, by the feel of it...
