QUICK HELP! motor mounts
I'm tearing the engine out of a wrecked 1980 240D. The motor was pushed back a little, making access to the bolts for the motor mounts a little tricky to access.
Also, Being that there is no top bolt head/nut observeable from the top of the aluminum motor mount "arms" that are attached to the block, is it just the single, large allen head seen from the underside of the mount the only thing holding the motor mounts to the chassis? I'm in a rush to get this motor out - all in all, what is the easiest way to get these mounts apart? Do I need a large (8mm???) allen wrench to get that bolt off? THANKS for the immediate help! Yes, 8mm should be the one. 6mm is for the other two, but the 8mm bolt will allow the engine and motor mounts to be removed from the car.

Thanks rrgrassi - that's what I needed to know! I'll get back to it.
PS: this forum is awesome! It took a whole 2 minutes to get a response, which helps when your stumped, sitting in your car desperately stealing wifi, typing away with greasy, skinned-knuckled hands! Thanks again! |
