Eliminating all things AC related '83 300SD

Can the compressor be removed without messing with the oil cooler lines?

It looks like there is a support bracket holding the oil cooler lines in place that is connected to the AC compressor, will they be ok to just hang there?

Leave the mounting bracket installed, just remove the compressor from the mounting bracket.

why are you wanting to remove the A/C components? I guess I am in Texas and trying to figure out how to get mine cooling again... Just curious.

At first glance it looked like it was one big piece. Thanks...

Sometimes the cost of repairs or missing equipment just isn't worth it.

Exactly. I would rather just simplify the car as much as possible. And lose the dead weight.

Any car without AC is worth exactly $0.00 to me. I am too old and sweat way to much for work to be uncomfortable in my vehicles on hot days. I will never own/drive a car with inop AC again. RT

Woodstock, GA? How much you want for all the parts? (especially the compressor, does it work?) I'm trying to get my AC working... I can come down and pick it up..

I dont know if it works. I have two w126s, my driver and a parts car and I dont plan on using the AC components from either.

You can come down(up?) and pick it up. I dont know what I want for it. If you help me take it apart I'll probably take $50 or something. Tell me what you think it's worth.

In my case my car did not come with factory AC. There is a crummy aftermarket system that I have been removing piece by piece.

If I replace the cable!

I'm looking to replace it with a manual version like the wagons use.

After getting all of the startup items to fix my a/c system, like gauges, 609 certification, odd seals, nylog, etc. to fix the a/c on the '84, it'll only cost me the price of a new compressor and freon to fix the a/c on the '85 and the SD. Now that I have an idea of what I'm going, I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.
