Congrats

Nice to see another CD in the South Fla family. As far as things to look for, I pulled the door panels on mine and found that the window lift motor mounts had loosened. The drivers side actually hogged out the metal hole, so took some mods to get her tightened up. Big glass in the CD's. Make sure everything is lined up and you'll have a quieter ride on the rode. These cars keep going up in value. Keep em clean and you'll have a true CD. Mine has the black box on the valve cover and not sure what it is either.

Cool I am on hold now with DAS to schedule shipping.
Wheere in FTL are ya.

When I get it running here you may be able to point out some CD tips....I was told the rear passenger window is not working & the sunroof does nothing. I am thinking a switch for the sr. It doesn't make a noise on the motor...Could also be a fuse...

That Intake looks like a stage one or two kit that is sold on ebay, I have one on my 300sd. It was on there when I bought it so i have nothin to compare it with. My sd is no speed monster but stays up with traffic nicely.

The black box on top of the valve cover is the vacuum switch housing that controls vacuum to the EGR and A/T transducer. There are 2 vacuum switches in there that read the throttle position and regulate how much vacuum goes to the tranny and EGR for proper operation of them. Those switches often leak and are cheap and easy to replace. Many a transmission has been rebuilt without needing it because one of those switches was bad...so, now you'all know what it is and what it does. Maybe in '85 they updated it to electronics, but I know in these early 80's models it was vacuum/mechanical.

glad to see you finally bought a coupe
Only the '85's have the electrical circuit for the egr. My '84 has, or actually had since I did away with it, the black box and vacuum lines. The '85's is electrical.

Congrats on the nice CD!

Basically 595 & Flamingo.
First check fuses. As I'm sure you've read the windows are fused diagonally. Left front to right rear. The Sunroof has it's own fuse. Don't know how much help I can be, still learning from all here, but always willing to try. Thanks to sailor 15015 and nhdoc for details on that little black box

Sounds do able. Does U Pull it have a web listing or do you go in blind? Know you'll be busy with the new addition. Good Luck and Gods Speed.

There are seperate fuses for each item. Each window, and even each headlight assembly, has it's own. Under the hood, on the driver's side next to the brake booster, is their home. I'd almost bet they both work just fine, and someone, wasn't interested enough, to change out the fuses. I just went through all of mine, on my newest project car, and like five were no good. Everything is working like new, now that I put in good fuses. Just make sure you get the correct type, and ratings. You don't want too big, or too small a fuse in them. Just bring the old ones with you, to Napa, and keep a note of which ones go where, if your diagram happens to be missing. It's located on the inside, of the fuse panel cover.

See attached Photo

If the pen is mightier than the sword, then the digital camera is a Howitzer . Clearly shows a= Front right/rear left b = Front left/rear right. Other fuses multi task with many items. At least on the USA versions.
