240D Vacuum issues
Dear Gentlemen,
I have a 1980 240D. I purchased it new with a manual transmissiom. It has 245,000 miles on it. This jewel is in the garage most of the time. It has developed a vacuum leak that I am experiencing great difficulty locating. When running the engine, I push the driver's door lock down and all doors lock. There is enough vacuum in the tank when I exit the vehicle to re-lock the doors with the key. Oh yes!, where is this vacuum tank located? I do enjoy working on and doing my own repairs. Any and all information you gentlemen can provide me will be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Warbonet. |

It may be a stretch to refer to us posters in Open Discussion as gentlemen. However, your question will be best answered on the diesel discussion. The vacuum tank is in the trunk. You'll need a Mity Vac to trace down the problem. On the 240d, the most likely culprit is a vacuum pod in the locking system somewhere. What are your symptoms?

He's new, Kerry. It won't take him long to realize he's using "gentlemen" verrrry loosely here.
