'77 300D - '84 300CD Interchangeable parts?
Hi
I have a '77 300D in a sorry state in my back yard which I'm planning to send to the scrapyard. I also have a '84 300CD in very good shape. Does anyone know if there are any parts I could salvage from the 300D that would be useful in the 300CD? I removed the headlights and the rear lights, the bumpers and the chrome grill. I can't think of much else that would be common between the two cars. Thanks

All the front sheet metal ahead of the doors is the same. The trunk lid should fit too, though there were some revisions between the '77 and '84. the oil guage unit should fit, as well as most of the dash switches. I have been doing some research on a 1977 and there are a surprising amount of differences from the mid 1979 and later models.

Just sent my '77 300D on to it's next home a couple of weeks ago. There are many things different on the '77 model. My oil filter is down on the bottom left of the engine, facing the ground. My ignition cylinder was different also, but I think it would interchange.
You situation is further complicated by your other car being a CD, which takes a lot of interior parts out of the mix. Things like aux fan, blower fan, maybe half shafts, fuel sending unit, extra vacuum fittings, driver's side view mirror, radio antenna, sunroof motor, etc...... And get you some hardware!
