Personally, I'm torn.

My 84 300D IS a Euro. Came over from Germany, with cloth interior and crank windows. Thing is, whoever imported it (for legal reasons) converted the headlights to the US-spec. The crank windows were replaced with power ones, which is nice... except for the fact that they didn't stick buttons in the back seats.

I personally think the US-specs look nicer. The circles (although making the car generally look a lot older than it is) just have more of that classic mercedes style, than do the square ones. However, I'd love to bring the car back to what it used to be.. and have the adjustable headlights (the switch is still in my dash). For now, it's an investment that I'd rather not make, though.. and I'll stick with the 7" Round Hella E-Codes that I bought.

Here's a question, though. Since the car is a Euro, and originally had the square Hella's... do you think I could stick 80/100w's in the socket without frying anything? I assume I can, since the car was originally designed for H4 bulbs.. but I'm wondering if they put entirely new wiring in during their 1980's conversion. The 60/55's aren't too bad.. and the euro light pattern is a lot better than the DOT one.. but if I can get it brighter, that'd be great.

It's all a matter of taste, of course, but I think that the US 123 sealed beam lights are ugly enough to gag a maggot on a gut wagon.

When I changed mine to the 100W bulbs I changed the socket also, to a heavy duty socket. I beleive I got mine (ceramic) here The ones I have are halogens but they are brighter than the standard ones. Here is a set of xenons but the halogens are cheaper

Im afraid they wouldnt be much use to you as they would be quite illegal in the U.S...!

We drive on the left, so the beam-pattern is biassed to the left, in the form of a very wide 'V' one leg of which is horizontal to the ground.... To make them comply, you would need to change the front glass, and maybe other things to get them right for Left Hooker vehicles....

City Lights....

We call them 'Side-Lights' or more correctly, Side-Marker lights, here in the UK which are mandatory on all U.K cars....

I'm lame, and somewhat of an exception, in that I like my plain ol' U.S. spec lights. Especially when the fogs are nice and yellow. Unfortunately mine are real pale.
