Bosch glow plugs

I always use Bosch glow plugs in my 300sd. Reading post on this forum every body says use original parts. I have never had problem with Bosch. Last week I bought a Ford 6.9 diesel. Yes I know. It had 7 bad glow plugs so I replaced them with 7 Bosch plugs. I heated it one time and the truck started. The second time I tryed to start the truck it would not. I checked and all 7 were bad again. I checked and the power to the plugs is not staying on to long and it is getting 12 volts. Has enyone ever seen this happen before or what could have cause this? Thanks for the help,I am almost thinking about putting motorcraft plugs in it. Thanks

Glow plugs....

No help here other than a comment......They aren't called "Fix Or Repair Daily" (FORD) for nothing.

Does not sound plausible, unless those seven get their power from a different relay than the rest.

You checked the seven you pulled to see if there was really anything wrong with them?

Too much afterglow? Perhaps, but I'd suspect a bad run of plugs.

i have no explanation for the one that is not shot. bad connection on it?

Bad timer or relay. Fords seem to love eating them.

Is the relay what turns it on and off?

there will be a timer which has attachements to sensors which decide how long to run the glow plugs. then if there is a relay the relay simply is a switch for high amperage flow operated by a lower amperage device such as the timer.

the starter solenoid is another example of a relay. the ignition switch is a low amperage switch with small wires which operates the solenoid wich is a coil which closes the large switch which delivers the high amperage current direclty to the starter. (imagine the size of the iginition switch if it had to accommodate the battery sized cables which are needed to operate the starter.)

there is also a relay often for headlights. and other things.
